May. 17 - 19, 2012 : Guru of Chai Guru of Chai Multi award winning show May. 18, 2012 : House of Shem Tickets at venue $30.00 May. 19, 2012 : Aladdins Metal FYRESTORM with SOUL SOCIETY in support May. 19, 2012 : Cancer Society Garage Sale Sale includes our usual range of household goods, furniture and clothing May. 20, 2012 : Grand Opening of the Motu Trails The Motu Trails, the seventh Great Ride to be completed under Nga Haerenga, The New Zealand Cycle Trail Programme, will be opened with a public cycling and walking event on Sunday, 20 May. ![]() A dawn blessing will be held prior to the grand opening at the Matawai Bridge, corner of Matawai and Motu Road at 7:00am. The official opening will follow at 10:30am at the Pakowhai ki Otutaopuku Bridge, Memorial Park Reserve, Albert Street, Opotiki. Key attendees will include East Coast MP Anne Tolley, Green Party MP Kevin Hague, Gisborne Mayor Meng Foon and Opotiki Mayor John Forbes. Members of the public are invited to join the celebration by participating in one of two community events, a 5km return walk or a 19km return cycle ride on the Dunes Trail. A hangi and refreshements will be available on the day. Pre-sale tickets for the hangi can be purchased for $10. May. 20, 2012 : Mini Scrapbooking Course amazing little scrapbooks made entirely from scratch with cute tags and inserts - they make a perfect gift! This course will show you how to make these mini albums out of envelopes. Cost $60.00 May. 20, 2012 : MV Takitimu Come sail with us on the historic MV Takitimu from outside the Tatapouri Sports Fishing Club at 2 pm. ** This fabulous piece of maritime history is the perfect way for you to experience Gisborne from the water. May. 20, 2012 : Dome Cinema Screening at the Dome Cinema, at 6pm A Separation. Pizzas, sweet snacks & refreshments are available at every screening from the Dome Bar. May. 23, 2012 : Dome Cinema Screening at the Dome Cinema, at 6pm The Kid With A Bike and 8pm A Separation (final screening). May. 24, 2012 : Operatunity - The Best of British Take Gilbert and Sullivan, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Irish ditties, lyrical Welsh melodies, stirring Scottish ballads, beloved English folk songs and combine them into a celebration of the best of British. May. 24, 2012 : Showcase! Showcasing Youth talent in Tairawhiti….@ Matapuna….4pm-7pm….Free entry…NZ Music Month….Free sausage sizzle…..Smoke free/violence free/drug free/colors free…Prizes for performers. We’re having a bit of a get-together for anyone and everyone who has been on a Spirit of Adventure 10-day youth development voyage, past volunteers and port coordinators. Come along for a drink and some delicious free food. It’s a great chance to catch up with old friends and find out about our big plans for next year.
